Assistive Devices
Orthotic – Prosthesis workshop once the student completed the process of registration the expert
professional conduct Medical check- up for the of assistive assessment of exact requirement Assistive
device which includes Crutches, Wheelchair, Calliper, Walker and prosthesis. The workshop of
assistive devices works on prescription of this Department. In this academic year the Department has
distributed 28 Calliper Pairs, 35 pairs of crutches, 42 wheelchairs, 17 Walker, 21 prosthesis, 8 Surgical
Shoes to respective inmates.The Institute also provide Assistive devices to outside Patients last year
13 pairs of Assistive devices provided to outside patients.
The institute provides facility of clinical posting and internship to the Students from physiotherapy
colleges. The objective is to assist the physiotherapist in the department to give treatment of the
inmates.The intern learn various steps involved like clinical assessment, evaluation and preparing the
Treatment protocol followed by the treatment.The department maintains attendance record of inmates
as well as OPD patients.
EARLY INTERVENTION AND DETECTION CENTRE
Centre was Setup in June 2021 initially started with 5 childrens only age group of 0-6 years some form
of disability either congenital or acquired.
An approach: Disability burden can be reduce through effective rehabilitation services (special health
care services that help a person regain, physical, mental and cognitive abilities that have been lost of
impaired as a result of diseases, appropriate rehabilitation services help people return to daily life and
live in a normal or near normal way) and not just through medical care services.
One third of maximum Disability in children are preventable if detected early and timely intervention
Appropriate rehabilitative intervention can reduce the disability burden and enable participation at all
levels independently. There were 7 children benefited during this academic year.
