Medical Programmes

In this Academic year the institute was approached by 55 students for physiotherapy treatment. The Department is manned by expert professionals who initially carry out assessment required to as certain the necessity of whether surgery or physiotherapy treatment will suffice the course of actions. The Department completed 40 Surgeries in the period under reference, these surgeries carried out at Sharada clinic by Dr.Satish Jain and Dr.Sameer Desai at Jahangir Hospital, Pune.
The After Surgeries all these students gone through physiotherapy Treatment in Institute and provided prosthesis and External Aids whichever is required. The Department also has outdoor patients (OPD) facility for nearby needy and p ly and poor patients. The OPD facility has benefitted 18 students in the last Academic year. The Department has organise different camps within Institute throughout the year mentioning Eye camp check-up camp, Dental Camp, Ayurvedic Health Check-up, and Health Check-up camp for the Inmates.

Assistive Devices

Orthotic – Prosthesis workshop once the student completed the process of registration the expert professional conduct Medical check- up for the of assistive assessment of exact requirement Assistive device which includes Crutches, Wheelchair, Calliper, Walker and prosthesis. The workshop of assistive devices works on prescription of this Department. In this academic year the Department has distributed 28 Calliper Pairs, 35 pairs of crutches, 42 wheelchairs, 17 Walker, 21 prosthesis, 8 Surgical Shoes to respective inmates.The Institute also provide Assistive devices to outside Patients last year 13 pairs of Assistive devices provided to outside patients.
The institute provides facility of clinical posting and internship to the Students from physiotherapy colleges. The objective is to assist the physiotherapist in the department to give treatment of the inmates.The intern learn various steps involved like clinical assessment, evaluation and preparing the Treatment protocol followed by the treatment.The department maintains attendance record of inmates as well as OPD patients.

EARLY INTERVENTION AND DETECTION CENTRE

Centre was Setup in June 2021 initially started with 5 childrens only age group of 0-6 years some form of disability either congenital or acquired.
An approach: Disability burden can be reduce through effective rehabilitation services (special health care services that help a person regain, physical, mental and cognitive abilities that have been lost of impaired as a result of diseases, appropriate rehabilitation services help people return to daily life and live in a normal or near normal way) and not just through medical care services.
One third of maximum Disability in children are preventable if detected early and timely intervention Appropriate rehabilitative intervention can reduce the disability burden and enable participation at all levels independently. There were 7 children benefited during this academic year.
Coordinated approach between health centre and rehabilitation centre required proper preventive measures.
Essential diagnosis and investigation required such as MRI CT scan of brain and blood test required. Delayed developmental milestones like neck holding, creeping, crawling, sitting, with support and without support kneeling, standing and walking these can be achieved through Neuro development techniques.

In this academic year 56 hostel inmates including day school gets benefited by occupational therapy within these 45 Hostel and 25 from OPD basis.

NDT (Neuro Development Technologies)

The Hands on therapy that looks to improve the mobility and function to achieve delayed development Milestones. Occupational Therapy having various tool to provide quality of treatment such as, Vestibular. The therapy (To Improve co-ordination and balance) MSIED Kit (Multisensory inclusive educational device) Utilisation for Serve spastic cerebral Palsy Patient for improvement of gross and fine motor function.

Group Therapy

In the form of plasticine clay use for making various shapes to improve grip and fine movements.

Interventional Therapy

Occupational Therapy department has a facility of interventional therapy like counselling of parents for preventional and betterment of living

Mattress and Swiss ball therapy

Cerebral Palsy inmates treat by differently ways on swiss ball to improve balance, stability and muscle strengthening whereas Mat therapy use for stretching, rolling and other exercises.

Ayurvedic Treatment

Institute provides facility of Ayurvedic medicine along with therapy which conduct by Dr. Pai every month.Institute provides this facility free of cost OPD Patients.
